Mr. Rajmohinder Singh and Mr. Dharambir Singh Jolly retain as Chancellor and Rector

The 120-year old Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) today elected its new executive body unanimously for the next five years. The present incumbent Mr Satyajit Singh Majithia was elected as President for third time while Mr.Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina was elected honourary secretary of Council for fourth time. The Council members also retained Mr. Rajmohinder Singh Majitha as Chancellor, Mr.Dharambir Singh Jolly as Rector and Mr.Charanjit Singh Chadha as Vice-President.

The 12-member executive body had most of old faces retained. The only addition was the election of Mr.Sawinder Singh Kathunangal as new additional honourary secretary. Mr.Gunbir Singh was re-elected as Joint Secretary (Finance), Mr. Ajmer Singh as Joint Secretary (Legal), Mr.Nirmal Singh as Joint Secretary (Buildings), Mr. Sukhdev Singh Abdal, Joint Secretary (Religious), Mr. Sardul Singh Mannan, Joint Secretary (Schools).

Former GNDU Vice-Chancellor and ex-Khalsa College Principal Dr.Harbhajjan Singh Soch was elected as Joint Secretary (UGC Affairs and Khalsa University), Mr Kartar Singh Gill Joint Secretary (College of Agriculture) and Mr.Rajbir Singh as Joint Secretary (Farms and Animal Husbandry).  The meeting of the 101-member general house of the KCGC, running historic Khalsa College and 16 other colleges and schools was held in highly peaceful and congenial manner.

The meeting was earlier presided over by Mr.Rajmohinder Singh Majithia due to the ill-health of Rector Mr.Jolly. As soon as the name of Mr. Satyajit Singh Majithia was proposed the house broke into slogans of `Bole-so-Nihal’ and he was elected President. He later selected his executive members who were approved by the general house.

Mr.Majithia thanked Chair and House for reposing their faith in him as President once again. He said his team of dedicated members had been working tirelessly for the progress and development of the educational institutions catering to the education need of the society.

More than 50,000 students are studying in the KCGC institutions and more than three lakhs families are directly or indirectly associated with the conglomerate of the educational institutions. ``Our students are excelling not only in the academic field but in sports and promotion of culture and heritage too’’, said Mr.Chhina. He also thanked the members and especially Mr.Majithia for showing faith in his abilities to run the KCGC affairs as its secretary.
