Ex Students of Khalsa College Turns Nostalgic at Fourth Global Alumni Meet On 127th Anniversary of Historic College, Alumni Recall Memories at Alma-mater

There was nostalgic anxiousness all around the heritage campus as scores of ex-students met at historic Khalsa College’s Global Alumni meet, here today. They recalled their cherished memories at the alma mater and exchanged pleasantries, hugs and handshakes, remembering the old times spent together. 

Dedicated to 127th foundation anniversary of the College which was founded in 1892, the Meet had the alumni, settled across the world, thronging the campus. They started arriving in the morning and in-pouring continued till afternoon when the ceremonies were in progress as they all were welcomed by the management, Principal and staff.
 The alumni witnessed a cultural program during which the students enthralled the audience with the folk songs, traditional orchestra and Jhoomer dance. Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) President, Satyajit Singh Majithia proudly claimed that alumni of the College is spread across the world. He said they are the shining stars of the institution as they have achieved heights making alma mater proud of them. Majithia, accompanied by KCGC honorary secretary, Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and Principal, Dr. Mehal Singh, honoured senior most alumni including renowned Punjabi writer Jasbir Singh Bhullar who has penned 42 books, sports start and retired Indian Railway official Manjit Singh Bhullar, noted Punjabi film Maker and Director Karaj Singh Gill and social worker Prof. Mohan Singh. RMS Chhina, in his welcome address earlier said that the College is proud of its rich resource of the alumni. He said specifically mentioned how US based NRI Bakshish Singh Sandhu who donated Rs.1.15 Crore for stipends to economically weaker students and other Rs.5.49 crore for infrastructure development. He said students of the College have achieved big in various arenas 

Principal, Dr. Mehal Singh who welcomed the guest said the motive to organize the meet was to provide an opportunity to the ex-students to come to their old institution and recall the golden times they spent here as students. He also coaxed the alumni to help the alma mater through their guidance and expertise to improve the educational standards further in line with global needs. A special documentary depicting the history of the Khalsa College Charitable Society its growth and progress was also presented.

 Global Khalsa Khalsa Alumni head Davinder Singh Chhina also spoke about the international outreach program of the Alumni chapters and how the ex-students were excited to take part in the meet today. The other alumni said whatever they have achieved in life was due to their learning here. They promised to do every bit to help the institution to achieve more academic excellence
