Education is Key to Success in Life” : Majithia, as he along with Kathunangal and Chhina Honour Meritorious Students

At least 1450 students from various graduate and post-graduate disciplines were today awarded degrees during the 113th annual Convocation of the historic Khalsa College here today. The 40 meritorious students were also given the honours and gold medals during academic function which was meticulously planned on the heritage campus. Khalsa College Governing Council President Satyajit Singh Majithia who gave the convocational address asked the students to focus on opportunities rather than on problems. He encouraged them to have firm faith in Almighty and remain positive saying the education is a key to the success. ``We must keep learning the whole life and keenness to gain knowledge must never die”, said Majithia who along with KCGC vice President Swinder Singh Kathunangal and honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina also awarded gold medals and honours to 40 other meritorious students. He stressed that aim of education is to develop well meaning personalities for the progress of the society and the nation at large. In his opening remarks, Chhina stressed on the advent of professional education. He added that the poverty can be eradicated only through education. He appealed the students to inculcate moral and ethical values in life and respect the elders. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh read out the details of annual progress report of the college describing the academic, cultural and sports achievements of the institution in the last one year.   Meanwhile, the ceremony commenced with the recitation of the college Shabad followed by the presentation of the award of degrees. Principal apprised that the college touched apex of the zenith during the session 2017-18. It received 1 Crore and 34 Lakh rupees grant under the University for Potential Excellence Scheme. It also received 55 Lakh rupees as cash prize in sports and bagged overall Championship Trophies in GNDU sports and Youth Festivals. He also informed that a huge number of students got Placement in various Public and Private Sectors. A total number of 1430 students were awarded degrees at the ceremony. KCGC joint secretaries Jagdish Singh, SS Mannan, Rajbir Singh Member PS Bal, Registrar Dr. Devinder Singh, Prof. Sukhmeen Bedi, Dean Academic Affairs other faculty members were present in large number.
