New Gurmat Study Centre Inaugurated on Vaisakhi Day at Khalsa College

With a view to train religious preachers, teachers and Ragis, a new Gurmat Study Centre was today inaugurated at historic Khalsa College here today. Housed in an ultra modern two-story building, the centre will offer three years degree courses and diplomas in `Gurmat’ (Sikh religion) to the students post 10+2 examinations free of cost.
  After inaugurating the building, Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) President Satyajit Singh Majithia and honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said the aim was to train the students in religious preaching and recitals of Gurbani. “It will be a full-fledged 3 years course and special attention will be paid to train the students in various foreign languages so that they can address the persons from other countries and regions' ', said Majithia.
  He said they hope that the Centre would emerge as a most prominent one in the arena and help the community to provide better understanding of the Sikh philosophy and religion to the people of the world. He thanked Head Granthi Golden Temple Giani Jagtar Singh and other religious personalities including Baba Darshan Singh for their presence at the auspicious occasion of Vaisakhi and anniversary of the birth of Khalsa today .
  Earlier the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path was organized following which Bhai Shivpreet Singh mesmerized the Sangat (devotees gathered) with his melodious recitals of Gurbani. Lat Baba Darshan Singh Ji sang the devotional Gurbani hymns in praise of the almighty Guru Granth Sahib. Chhina said the Centre will help the students to get top-class training in Gurmat education and the course for which entrance test will be conducted will be free of any cost to students and rather the meritorious students will get stipends also.
  Principal Dr. Mehal Singh said the admissions will be on merit and the students will be living in hostels for round the clock educational training in the Gurmat. He thanked the management for opening the Centre which will admit students in the upcoming 2022-23 academic session.
